Who is behind RealRate
I'm Anas, an independent entrepreneur and the editor and publisher of RealRate. The site exists to give freelancers, Etsy sellers and platform creators plain-number answers to fee and tax questions that platforms and tax forms tend to leave vague: what a platform really takes, what a sale really earns, and what is left after tax.
How the content is made
Each calculator starts from primary sources: the IRS and GOV.UK for tax, and the platforms' own published fee pages for Etsy, Upwork and Fiverr. I build the formulas, then test every worked example in the guides against the live calculators before publishing. I use AI tools to help draft and structure pages, and every figure is checked against its source and tested before it goes live. When a rate changes, the page is updated and the change is logged on the methodology page.
What you will not find here
I'm not an accountant or tax adviser, and RealRate is not a substitute for one. The guides explain how fees and taxes work and show worked examples, but your own situation may differ. I also don't claim personal experience I don't have: where a page is based on research and calculation rather than first-hand use, it says so.
Corrections
Rates change often and mistakes happen. If you spot an error, email hello@realrate.online with the page, the figure and a link to the source, and I will check and correct it. Fixes are recorded in the update log.
Independence and advertising
RealRate is free, needs no account and runs the calculators in your browser. It is not affiliated with Upwork, Fiverr, Etsy, OnlyFans, Twitch, YouTube or Patreon. The site may show ads, which never influence the calculations. See the disclaimer and privacy policy.
